Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of November 7, 2024

The Best Christmas Pageant – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Grace, played by Judy Greer, is trying to put on the town’s Christmas Pageants, but when the six worst siblings in town sneak into the church for snacks and end up catching her eye as talents on the stage, she butts heads with the entire town, who hate those children more than anything else. But can Grace and these misbehaving children teach the town the real meaning of Christmas?

It still feels early for Christmas, but if you are looking for a comedy, and willing to start early this is housing a great case, and an interesting and humorous concept.

Drive Back – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Reid, played by Zack Gold, wanted to take his pregnant fiancée on a trip to a romantic and remote cabin, but when their car runs off the road during a shortcut they have to struggle to survive while a killer hunts them.

An interesting concept, short cut leading to their death teaches the lesson that the longer journey is worth the time, for less danger. It’s a suspense bordering on horror, which I personally think still works in November.

Elevation – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

With the world well set within a post-apocalyptic nightmare, one family in the Rocky Mountains will venture from their home and face the horrors to try to save the life of a young boy. But what horrors lay in the wastes of society.

The father in this story is played by Anthony Mackie and frankly I am excited to see him in more roles outside of the MCU. I loved his turn on Altered Carbon, and think he has what it takes to bring this movie to a broad audience.

Heretic – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 92%

When two young missionaries attempt to convert and preach their faith to Mr. Reed, played by Hugh Grant, they find themself forced in a struggle for survival when Mr. Reed traps them within his house and forces them into a game for their lives.

If you are loving the range of Hugh Grant in this stage of his career, then you’ll enjoy his portrayal in this horror/thriller. A lot of people hate missionaries, so it might be hard for some people to feel sympathy of the victims though.

In Flight – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Claire Reynolds, played by Tiffany Smith, deals with the fact that her career hasn’t come to fruition, and her father’s recent passing, she decides a trip to Paris will help her get her life together. However, the night before the flight, a chance encounter with a stranger named Marco leaves her missing hours as she wakes up on the flight with a note that the plane is in peril.

Lost time, threat of terrorism, this is a classic thriller with high stakes, and closed environment with an eventual conclusion of either the threat comes to pass, or the plane lands. If you like thrillers, then this will be a great option for you!
