There aren’t many in this world who does not know who George Lucas is. That wasn’t exactly the case back in 1977 when he created the most well loved science fiction film in the world, Star Wars. Now on top of the other amazing films he created including Indiana Jones, he is a known entity around the world.
George Lucas, actually George Lucas Jr., was born on May 14, 1944 and was raised in Modesto, California. In his youth he was interested in comic books and science fiction, but although he loved those worlds within books, he also dreamed of being a racecar driver. In high school, right before graduating, he unfortunately suffered a severe car accident which soured him on the idea and turned him back to his interests in science fiction and comic books.
When he graduated he wanted to go to art school, but his father wouldn’t pay for it, so he attended Modesto Junior College, studied anthropology, sociology, and literature. Then due to some friends formed during filming the underground racing scene, Lucas transferred to the University of Southern California for their School of Cinematic Arts. There he became good friends with those who would become the infamous Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.
As this weekly article normally focuses on Comic Books, we wanted to share our favorite comic books dedicated to the world of Star Wars. So here are some of our favorite comic books!

Tag and Bink Are Dead (2001) Tag and Bink stared in “Tag and Bink Are Dead” in which they were rebel soldiers who were captured, to survive they pretend to be storm troopers and wish to escape but along the way cause trouble for Darth Vader in the final scene of Episode IV. What follows after in their series, is the continuation of them being shoehorned as parody into other movies, from Episode VIII, and then back to Episode II and Episode III. I highly recommend if you are a fan of Star Wars, and are able to laugh at it a little bit, that you check out the short series, “Tag and Bink“. |
