Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of August 29, 2025

Caught Stealing – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Hank, played by Austin Butler, has given up his dream life as a high-school baseball star, but he built a life with a girl, a job, and a favorite team, but when his neighbor, played by Matt Smith, leaves him with extra responsibility and in the cross hairs of gangsters. How long can Hank keep ahead of the curve ball?

Set with a lot of charm, and an interesting story, I like these unsuspecting hero/adventure stories and how they usually beset an unsuspecting main character. Looks like it could be a lot of fun.

The Roses – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Ivy, played by Olivia Colman, begins to see her career take off, it only puts further strain on her marriage and husband, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, when he begins to nosedive. Resentment and competition begins to form between the couple.

This is a reimagination of the incredibly well loved and classic War of the Roses movie, based on the novel by Warren Adler. It’s going to be interesting when you see the role taken over by Benedict that was once played by Michael Douglas.

Somnium – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 100%

Trying to make ends meet after her journey from her small town, Gemma, played by Chloë Levine, finds herself working in a Sleep Clinic in Los Angeles, named Somnium. However, when the dreams begin to turn to reality, she finds herself trapped within their repercussions.

If you are looking for a fish out of water story, and a thriller, then this film will hit those notes this week.

The Thursday Murder Club – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

The Thursday Murder Club is a group of four retirees. Elizabeth, played by Helen Mirren, Ron, played by Pierce Brosnan, Ibrahim, played by Ben Kingsley, and Joyce, played by Celia Imrie. To pass their now large amounts of retired life time, they solve cold cases. However, when a cold case finds them, it takes it to the next level.

This movie is based on Richard Osman’s novel of the same name, what that means for more of these stories as it goes forward, who knows. I will say though, if you had to have a cast, this is an awesome selection of actors.

The Toxic Avenger – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 92%

Winston Gooze, played by Peter Dinklage, is just a janitor, but when exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident he’s transformed. Now the deformity has the opportunity to rise up from outcast to become The Toxic Avenger. A savior against ruthless corporate overlords who would hurt his family, friends, or community.

It’s nice to see such an iconic hero from the b-movie verse getting another chance with such an impressive cast and chance in the matter! We can’t wait to see where the studio takes this film, and if it lived up to the hype!
