Alright, Autobots—this is not a drill. The Transformers: The Movie 40th Anniversary Celebration of Life Concert just tore through San Diego like a rampaging Dinobot, and it was pure, electrified, rock ’n’ roll glory.
Held July 23rd at the House of Blues during Comic-Con week, the show is part of Hasbro’s brilliantly cheeky “Apology Tour” which is a year-long celebration of the 1986 film that fans still talk about. But this night wasn’t about heartbreak—it was about turning the volume all the way up and celebrating just how insanely awesome this movie’s music really is.
And wow, did they deliver on this sold out concert event!
Entering the event, you will see incredible Transformers figures in display cases, multiple photo opportunities, and be able to get themed drinks. Depending on your ticket level, there is the VIP balcony area, general admission on the floor if you want to get down, or if you are a Hasbro employee, there was a special buffet area for them too!
Now lets get into rock and roll of it all!
Opening for the show was a DJ set from V.B.O., featuring Francesco Cavalieri of the band Wind Ros. As if that wasn’t enough, Jem and the Holograms lit up the stage with original singer Britta Phillips, bringing that truly outrageous energy and making the whole night feel like a crossover event straight out of an ‘80s dream.
Right after was the main attraction…
The stage was dominated by Knights of Unicron, blasting through the film’s legendary soundtrack with the kind of energy that makes you feel like you’re watching a Cybertronian battle unfold in real time. Backing them up? Absolute icons. Stan Bush brought the crowd to life (yes, “The Touch” hit exactly as hard as you want it to), while Vince DiCola added that unmistakable synth-powered epicness that defined the movie.
Then things went even harder.
Rock legend Sebastian Bach joined the celebration, cranking the intensity to maximum overdrive and proving this concert wasn’t just nostalgic—it was full-on arena-level spectacle.
And because this event understands deep-cut fandom, Cold Slither—the in-universe G.I. Joe band—returned to the stage, louder and wilder than ever. It’s not every day you see a fictional Cobra rock group absolutely shred in real life, but here we are, and it ruled.
The hype didn’t stop with the performances. Fans were treated to a brand-new music video for “Nothin’s Gonna Stand in Our Way”, released alongside The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition, now blasting across streaming platforms and vinyl.
And yes—there’s more. The original film is heading back to theaters this fall with a brand-new post-credits companion piece, with tickets going on sale starting August 7. Add in a wave of fresh collectibles—from Monster Jam crossovers to new Studio Series figures—and it’s clear Hasbro is going all-in on celebrating this legacy.
Bottom line? This wasn’t just a concert. It was a full-throttle, guitar-shredding, nostalgia-fueled tribute to everything that makes Transformers legendary.
Apology accepted… but honestly, if this is what saying sorry sounds like, they can keep it coming.
Transform and rock out.
