Beavis and Butt-Head has held a solid foothold in my heart since my childhood. I have been sneaking downstairs to watch episode after episode and not get caught by my parents. Now that I’m an adult I can watch the show whenever I want, so I jumped at the chance to review season 3.
As always, we break down our reviews, even when they’re animated series by story, acting, and overall. So let’s jump on into it.
Story 7/10
Beavis and Butt-Head’s episodes are broken down into two stories, mainly, per episode. Sometimes we are granted a special third small tidbit in the middle. Each episode is broken down into a story that is then bifurcated by music videos or similar content that the duo watch and make fun of or comment about.
This season is no different than all the others with that regard. Last season they began increasing more of old Beavis and Butt-Head, as if they had continued on from their age in the original series and we’re living that age now. The story continues on with journeys of the series regular view of Beavis and Butt-Head and journeys of smart Beavis and Butt-Head, but this season we did not get to see any more of young Beavis and Butt-Head.
All the stories of the episodes do not traditionally move forward and create a narrative for the series, they actually do the opposite of that with one episode of the season ending with Beavis being buried alive, and therefore the series would end.
I will say, however, even though it is slightly spoilerish, it is nice to see more story growth for smart Beavis and Butt-Hhead, in previous seasons they showcase them being viewed as fools in their Universe, but still intrusted them with missions of utmost importance, which is better explained this season.
Another nice new bit for the series however, is shorts from Mr. Van Dresen alone, just like the Mr. Anderson clips about his wartime, they are short but sweet.
Acting 8/10
Mike Judge does a great job once again showcasing the ability to craft two unique and different sounding characters, not only interacting with each other, but are able to carry on two full conversations as if it was two different people.
There aren’t a lot of other voice actors in the series that stand out, as most of them only have small supporting bits the series.
I will however give a shout out to the return of Todd, voiced by Toby Huss, and adult Stewart, voiced by Sam Johnson. All of these characters, and their their matching voice actors added a lot to the series this season and it was fun to see them in episodes.
Overall 7/10
As for the show, it is a solid and normal continuation of Beavis and Butt-Head. It doesn’t break new ground, but it doesn’t feel stale or lose its connection to the original series.
If you want more mindless, but fun, stories, the series somehow finds a way to keep creating new episodes and being entertaining for the long run. I definitely recommend you check out season 3 of Beavis and Butt-Head.
Conner’s Final Thoughts
Primarily because of the uncooked meat, I wouldn’t try the Nachos Supreme Milkshake, but I’d probably try the the regular Nachos Milkshake. I mean the gang loved them so much they just sat there all night non-stop eating them! Would you try the Nachos Milkshake?
