The lead actor of the Gotham TV series that ran from 2014 through 2019 was David Albert Mazouz and today is his birthday! Mazouz was born on February 19, 2001.
Mazouz started acting at 8, playing roles in commercials, and at 11 he got his first role in a TV series. Two years later he received his biggest role as Bruce Wayne in the series Gotham.
The series covered Bruce Wayne’s childhood, and would eventually showcase his training, desire to do good in the world, and dealing with the proto-villains of the world of the comic books.
After the end of the 2019 conclusion of the series, Mazouz began attending Stanford University and studied economics, psychology, and computer science. He has since graduated.
All that being said, David Mazouz still is best known for his leading role as Bruce Wayne in the Batman-prequel TV series Gotham, and with that in mind we wanted to share some of the comic books that were used for inspiration for the series.

Gotham Central #1 (2003) A series dedicated to the major crimes unit of Gotham, the detectives deal with crimes involving some of Gotham’s most dangerous and deranged criminals. In this series though, unlike others, they do not call in Batman, and take matters into their own hands. |

Batman: Year One (1987) Telling the story of Bruce Wayne in his first year, returning to Gotham City 18 years after his parents passed away. It’s at this same time that Lieutenant James Gordon comes to Gotham. As Batman searches for purpose and begins a career as a vigilante, Gordon deals with and stands up to the corruption within the police department. |

Batman #666 (2007) One of my favorite villains of the week and characters from the show was Professor Pyg, who in the past was barely represented in the comics. This however, was the first appearance, and immediate death of the character in a non-canonical story set in a future world. |
