Today is the birthday of Jason Mantzoukas, and while that name might not mean anything to you, if you aren’t in the know, you definitely have seen him in all of his roles over the years. His breakout role was as Rafi in The League, but he has also stared in shows like Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and The Good Place!
Jason Mantzoukas was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and is a second-generation Greek-American. Early in life he had a love of music, learning drums at 10, and participating in a bebop group in college. While in college he fell in love with Inprov, feeling it used the same skills as jazz. He moved to New York City in 1998 and began performing comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade under Amy Poehler.
Currently he is voice acting in series like Big Mouth, Star Trek: Prodigy, and the much loved Invincible series on Amazon Prime as the super hero characters from Skybound Comics, Rex Splode.

Invincible #2 (2003) This is the first appearance of Rex Splode. Invincible and Rex cross paths because Mark takes out a villian shortly after the Teen Team, led by Robot. Rex is a super strong hero who can ignite material, turning things into bombs. |

Invincible Presents: Atom Eve & Rex Splode Vol. 1 (2010) Usually we talk about one comic book, but this is a collection and a must read. It has three Atom Eve comics, and two Rex Splode comics, which is important because their origins are so closely tied to each other. The story showcased in this series of books talks about how Rex gains his powers, and how he survives once he escapes from the people who made him what he is. |
