Celebrate Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant 90 Years!

For those who many not know, Mrs. Knott’s restuarant actually began in the 1920s when Cordelia Knott sold homemade biscuits and perserves at the farm’s roadside produce stand. As the farm grew in notoriety though, and the customers increased, they began to increase their menu and on June 13, 1934 Cordelia sold eight 65-cent chicken dinners. In only six years passed, the line for diner took hours for hungry visitors. To deal with the lines, Cordelia’s husband Walter created a ghost town to entertain people as they waited. In modern days, Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant serves 1,000 chickens an average to customers.
