This has real Planes Trains and Automobiles energy, but with a softer and dramatic side. If you are looking for a softer romantic story this year, then this film will surprise you.

When a large family comes home to Long Island for the holidays, it’s chaos and drama. To escape the drama, one of the cousins, played by Michael Cera, seeks solice from one of his extended family to escape and have a different type of holiday.

If you like family stories, and also find yourself overwhelmed at the Christmas table, then this film will connect with you in a lot of ways.

Telling the story of Freddy Beras-Goico as he grows and becomes an iconic comedian, writer, and tv producer all the way through his philanthropy and journey.

If you are a fan of the Dominican comedian, then you will learn more about him in this film.

Hippo – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 92%

Two stepsiblings, Hippo, played by Kimball Farley, and Buttercup, played by Lilla Kizlinger, deal with coming of age. While Hippo prefers video games, Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant has nothing but eyes for her stepsibling. Her unrequited love becomes a waking nightmare that causes comedic outcomes through the journey.

I have to be honest, the idea of stepsiblings does not make the idea of them falling in love any better. To my they represent family. However, if you can survive the perverse and awkward exchanges, a lot of reviewers consider this film to be a masterpiece.

Red One – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Santa Claus, played by J.K. Simmons, is kidnapped, his head of security, played by Dwayne Johnson, must team up with the world’s worst naughty boy, and unfortunately most infamous bounty hunter, played by Chris Evans, to save Christmas.

It’s very much The Santa Clause meets Walking Tall. There is a lot of comedy, a lot of Christmas, and a ton of tiny jokes that plays with the fact that Chris Evan’s character did not believe in Santa.
