Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of December 13, 2024

Filthy Animals – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)
When Freddy and Lars, played by Ryan Patrick Brown and Austan Wheeler, get together, it’s bad news as Lars is a drug enthusiast, and Freddy is just out of rehab. However, the two find something to get their adrenilan pumping other then drugs when they hunt down child sexual predators on Christmas Eve.

What a Christmas film… Just kidding. I know how protective people are of that genre. However, if this holiday season, you are looking for something more thrilling and violent, then this film is for you.

Kraven The Hunter – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 14%
Kraven, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has had a life filled with brutal consequences, and violance, thanks to his father Nikolai, played by Russell Crowe. However, he turns the tables on the hunted, as he targets his father’s evil and feared empire.

Kraven has been working super hard with the social media campaigns. I know this is a Sony Spider-verse film though, and frankly those do a horrible job when it comes to these super hero films. I only hope that the movie is watchable, or at the very least, meme-able.

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 57%
Helm Hammerhand, legendary King of Rohan, played by Brian Cox, is thrown into leadership by the evil Wulf, voiced by Luke Pasqualino, when Wulf murders Helm’s father and pushes his people into Hornburg Stronghold, to become Helm’s Deep.

This film is set 183 years before the Lord of the Rings films. Unlike the amazon series, this one is animated, and hopes to continue the stories closely tied to and with consideration of the live action films.

The Man In The White Van – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 86%
Based on true events, set in Florida in the 1970s. Annie, played by Madison Wolfe, begins to notice a white van following her around. She talks to her parents, played by Ali Larter and Sean Astin, but they push off her fears, and set Annie on a path to specifically face a monster who is coming for her.

I personally love to see Sean Astin back in the spotlight, working in films and stories, but as for Ali Larter, with what came out from her time on Heroes, I worry about her return to a major project like this, and her involvement with the indie but swelling production company of Legion M.

Nickel Boys – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)
Elwood, played by Ethan Herisse, had dreams of going to college, but after an accident he is sentanced to the Nickel Academy within the perior of the Jim Crow South. This brutal reformatory crushes his dreams, but with the help of Turner, played by Brandon Wilson, they find an optimistic way to survive.

This story takes place during the Civil Rights Movement, and while Rev. Martin Luther King’s journey is a known one, stories like the Nickel’s brutality is often forgotten and pushed aside but is memorable non the less.
