Movies Releasing For The Week of January 25

We are back for another week. Ready to get my … Interesting take on movies?

Here is what movies are coming out tomorrow, and if we suggest you watching them.

The Image Book – Releasing 01/25/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 83%

The Image Book is a five part short series in which the creator attempts to look at the worlds horrors, and showcase the things that we are suffering from, as well as the actions we take upon himself.

You can construe a lot from this piece, but I’d recommend just giving it some room unless you consider yourself an intellectual, this film is a bit heavy handed, and hard to follow.

The Invisibles – Releasing 01/25/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 71%

A documentary film covering the jews that lived in the Nazi Capital in 1943 during the time in which Goebbels declared Berlin “free of Jews”. Covering the stories of 1,700 who managed to learn to be invisible within the city.

If you are looking for a solid documentary film, skip The Image Book and watch The Invisibles, it’s a much more powerful and interesting story, more artfully and skillfully pieced together.

The Kid Who Would Be King – Releasing 01/25/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 87%

Alex, played by Ashbourne Serkis, lives a life of a child. Bullying, homework, and everyday struggles. One day he stumbles upon the Sword in the Stone. While the world around him seems to be normal, magic is encroaching. With the aid of his united school, Excalibur, and Merlin, played by Patrick Stewart, they must take on Morgana and her evil forces.

Maybe I’m getting soft in my age, but this movie is cute and has some shiny tidbits amongst the cringe kid movie. That being said though, if you have a kid, sorry, but this is your family film for the week. The bathtub scene though is hilarious.

King of Thieves – Releasing 01/25/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 34%

A crew comes out of retirement to pull off one more heist. However greed, and other factors turns this basic robbery into a shit show, made worse by the fact that it’s based on true events.

Michael Caine is in this with Charlie Cox. You are going to see this movie. It looks good. See this movie!

Serenity – Releasing 01/25/18
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 24%

Baker Dill, played by Matthew McConaughey, leads fishing excursions out of Plymouth Island. Everything is going great until his ex-wife Karen, played by Anne Hathaway, comes asking him to kill her new husband, so that her and their son can be safe. He takes the new husband on a fishing trip, and has to make the decision, but nothing is as it seems.

In what world does Matthew McConaughey marry Anne Hathaway. She is half his age. Can Hollywood please start picking age appropriate couples. Also Anne Hathaway is a 10, and McConaughey is a 7 if at all. That being said, It’s suspenseful but a little flat. If you are looking for a will he won’t he murder film, this fits the bill.
