Every year the parking lot next to Petco Park is buzzing. The buses for the San Diego Comic-Con shuttle system drops people off there all the time. As a direct result of this, the Interactive Zone @ Petco Park has taken advantage of that foot traffic to create a free to attend, and open to the public space.
While it can take a bit to enter, due to the security processes and metal detectors, it’s worth stopping in, usually for the food trucks alone. This year, while less than prior years, had a couple worthwhile activations to explore.
Arc System Works brought their new game, Double Dragon Revive for people to try out ahead of it’s launch. Ebay has a one of a kind experience for attendees, Hello Kitty brought their cafe bus to sell swag and treats, Netflix brought a couple of their family friendly shows, and Lubu-tique brought a photo-op standee for those unable to bear the line next-door for their pop-up shop.
The biggest activation at the experience however was the Magic The Gathering x Avatar activation which allowed people to get unique cards from the game, and take a photo with the Cabbage vendor!
This is a subtle and lower energy activation, but it’s much appreciated and well loved by all regular attendees of the convention!
