Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of July 2, 2021

As we prepare for the opening of theaters and the return to normal life practices, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. Until then though, if you do go to a theater make sure it has a policy of requiring attendees to wear masks, and sit in isolated groups out of proximity of other viewers.

The Boss Baby: Family Business – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Tim, played by James Marsden, and his Boss Baby brother Ted, played by Alec Baldwin, have grown up, and apart. Tim has a family of his own, while Tim followed his boss ways to become a CEO, When a new boss baby arrives it will inspire a brand new family business.

I can’t stand the Boss Baby movies or series, but if you have children this is a good selection for the week. Kids love this series for some reason, and the concepts are very family-friendly.

First Date – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 58%

In preparation for his first date, Mike, played by Tyson Brown, needs a car but gets stuck with a ’65 Chrysler. His date with the girl next door, played by Shelby Duclos, takes a turn though when the car he got causes a case of mistaken identity and makes him a target for criminals, cops, and more!

This movie reminds me a lot of the 1991 film “Mystery Date” where a brother gives his credit card and car to his brother for a first date, but when he is mistaken for his brother, the date turns dangerous. I loved that movie, and I’d love to see it rebooted. The problem I have heard though is that the film is cheaply made, while Brown and Duclos do their best in a low-budget film.

The Forever Purge – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

After the Purge, the murders and craziness continue on. This forces a ranch hand, played by Tenouch Huerta, and his wife, played by Ana de le Reguera, and their wealthy employers the Tucker family to partner and protect each other as the United States falls into pure chaos.

Another film in the Purge world. If you like these films, there is nothing I can say, you’ll likely see this film. The Purge rules failing, and continuing past the day of the Purge creates a unique experience and creates a new experience in this universe which we’d think it’s already done everything it could.

The God Committee – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A group of people on a medical board are forced to decide the recipient of a heart when it arrives unexpectedly at the hospital. As ethics, money, and favoritism play heavily on decisions, the members have to decide who is worthy. Starring Kelsey Grammer, Julia Stiles, and Janeane Garofalo.

While I don’t have the first-hand experience to confirm this kind of process occurs in these situations, I can honestly say that I believe it to be true. Time is ticking, and while there is usually a donor list, I can imagine favoritism granting people faster access.

Secret Agent Dingledorf And His Trusty Dog Splat – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

While his normal day-to-day usually deals with bullies and self-doubt, Bernie Dingledorf, played by Zackary Arthur, finds himself pulled into the diabolical plan of Dr. Chuckle, played by Ryan O’Quinn, who wants to cause the world to suffer uncontrollable fits of laughter.

Another children’s film, all be it indie, this series might fit the kind of people who would read “A Diary Of A Wimpy Kid”. Also, if you can’t tell from the name, the dog is predominantly featured in the film, so take that into consideration.
