Hye-won, played by Kim Tae-ri, is a teacher, who needs to escape her life, so she returns to her families rural home. While a simple rural life has it’s charms, Hye-won learns it’s not eall easy as her rekindled childhood friendships lead to love and loss that can find you no matter where you live.

Little Forest is an adaptation of the manga of the same name. If you are looking for something will less horror then Midsommar, but with beautiful forest scenary, then check out this film.

Midsommar – Releasing 07/03/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 96%
To save a relationship, and recover from a bad year, Dani decides to join her boyfriend, and his friends, on his trip to a Swedish midsummer festival. As the group begins to notice that the festival is a little more unnerving then they’d expect. Things take a turn for the worse, and they may never be the same as a result.

This movie is a mind fuck, it’s messed up, and it will play with your mind. It’s as if the creators of Wickerman actually were able to pull it off, mixed in with a little bit of fear of outdated European culture. While I feel like this movie wrongfully victimizes the culture of the Swedish people, it does seem to be a unique and interesting take on the current horror genre that would rather make remakes then craft new tales.

Phil – Releasing 07/05/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – Unknown At This Time.
Phil, played by Greg Kinnear, is a walking stereotypical dentist. Depressed and suicidal. His life is falling apart, but looks to his patients joy to keep him moving forward. However Phil’s life is rocked when his happiest patient kills himself. To understand why their was such a disconnect, Phil pretends to be someone he isn’t to infiltrate his patients life, and family, to understand the choices his patient made.

Directed by Greg Kinnear as well, Phil looks like an interesting tale. If told properly with reverence, this film could help people during a dark time of their life. If told as a gimic to a story, this film could do more harm then good. I am willing to give Greg Kinnear the benefit of the doubt though.

The Realm (El Reino) – Releasing 07/04/19
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 92%
The Realm is the story of a politician in Spain, who makes horrible and criminal choices. When his opulent lifestyle choices becomes obvious, they cause a wave of investigations and accusations that could take down his entire political party.

If you are looking for a political thriller, this movie seems to be a powerful film that pulls you into the all the more common problems crippling many governments.
