Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of October 23, 2020

As we prepare for the opening of theaters and the return to normal life practices, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. Until then though, if you do go to a theater make sure it has a policy of requiring attendees to wear masks, and sit in isolated groups out of proximity of other viewers.

After We Collided – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Tessa, played by Josephine Langford, has her relationship Hardin, played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, is put to the test, when a new man enters her life, and his attraction to her is not only one-sided.

The sequel to the 19% Tomatometer film After is not being well-received, just as its predecessor was not well received. If you are looking for a young romance drama and don’t mind it being a little basic, then you might want to watch this film, but if you decide to partake, you might want to watch the first film.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm – Releasing on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Borat, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, is given one more chance after his last film brought shame to Kazakhstan, to return to the USA and give tribute to the US government to repair their relationships. His plan is to give his daughter, played by Irina Nowak, to Michael Pence as a tribute for his nation. His plan though goes awry when people in the country recognize him, so he has to hide in disguises.

Wow. After the creation of Who Is America? people were wondering if the series would return, or what Cohen’s next project would be. We could not ask more of Cohen than for this film, which plays on the cult-like status of the south, the Republican party, and disbelief of Covid-19. Released just in time prior to the election.

Friendsgiving – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Abby, played by Kat Dennings, is tired of the normal drama of Thanksgiving and decides to have a simple laid-back friendsgiving with her best friend Molly, played by Malin Akerman, and a couple of other friends. Things take a turn and the drama returns when Molly’s boyfriend, played by Ryan Hansen, and her mother, played by Jane Seymour, crash the festivities.

If you, like us, have had issues with family drama on Thanksgiving, then you probably have thought of this idea before as well. This film is something we’ve been looking forward to since our interview with Dana DeLorenzo last October. Not only does it star DeLorenzo, but also Chelsea Peretti from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Jane Seymour who has done an amazing job with comedy.

On The Rocks – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 88%

When Laura, played by Rashida Jones, believes that her husband Dean, played by Marlon Wayans, is cheating on her, she reconnects to her playboy father Felix, played by Bill Murray, as they try to investigate and discover if Dean really is having an affair.

Jones and Murray are amazing at not only playing the straight man role in comedy, but also in delivering lines with sincerity that a regular actor couldn’t do no matter how hard they tried. When we heard that they were working on this film together we were excited. Movies similar to this one would be “Like Father” but when Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer are skilled, no one can play these roles in the industry better than Murray and Jones.

Synchronic – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 84%

A series of bloody accidents, push a pair of New Orleans paramedics to their paces. When Dennis, played by Jamie Dornan, finds out his daughter has disappeared, and when Steve, played by Anthony Mackie, tries to help, he ends up taking a drug at the heart of the incidents, and questions his perceptions of reality.

We love Anthony Mackie, and his performance in this film seems to feel a lot like the twisted ending portion of the first season of True Detective. If you are looking for a suspenseful drama this week, then we recommend checking out this film.
