The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is located at the York Theatre which was built in 1923 and was originally a silent theater. In 2019 the Bob Baker Marionette Theater moved into the building after losing its longtime location in Echo Park. While they have worked to revitalize sections and spaces within the theater, now they are revealing the restoration of their historical theater marquee. The marquee features classic neon, bulb lighting, and deco architectural features with the support from the Perenchio Foundation.
The marquee will be a beacon of the theater’s York Boulevard entrance. 4949 York Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90042.
This is one of the Marionette’s theater’s tenets, preserving outside the Theater and into its neighboring community.
To celebrate this historical re-reveal of the marquee the Theater will host an open public house on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. During this time the theater will provide activities, interactions with puppets, live airbrushing, caricature artists, face painting, food trucks, and so much more.
The experience is free, but they hope you will RSVP Here. We hope to see you there!
