During CES we connected with Tombot, this little animated puppy is named Jenny, and is a fully robotic pet.
The creator Tom Stevens was dealing with his mothers dementia, and the realization that her hallucinations and inability to take care of herself, made it an unsafe environment for her pet. So his solution to help combat the loneliness and depression associated with that moment in her life was a pet she could take care of.
Hence the robotic dog! He went to work with the help of the Jim Henson’s Creature Shop to create a pet that utilizes touch, voice, light, temp and more sensors to create realistic animal movements, including responding to its name!
The animal features rechargeable batteries and is stationary as a lap or side dog on the couch to help prevent fall issues in the elderly.
