We Stopped By Knotts Scary Farm For Its 50th Year!

This year is the 50th anniversary of Knotts Scary Farm. This event has been going on for so long. It is pretty much considered the OG of Halloween scare events at theme parks. On top of allowing some of their rides to run in reverse, the experience at this park is made that much more impressive by scare mazes, scare actors, and of course a history of knowing exactly what it takes to frighten their attendees.

Favorite Maze?

During the event we checked out a bunch of mazes and our favorite maze was Cinema Slasher.

This maze takes you through the silver screen and into the world of horror movies, as an animated movie projector attempts to seal your fate. You enter so many worlds of movie tropes which pay homage to movies like Saw, I Know What You Did, Scream, and classics like Friday the 13th!

There are a ton of shows available, but unless you spring for the Fright Fast pass you might end up spending most of your night in lines. The Fright Fast pass will definitely give you the option to check out shows like Le Magnifique Carnaval du Grotesque, which was our favorite. At it you would see an army of dancing zombies performing amazing choreographed routines, and other sideshow attractions! Carlos was amazing!

Crowded?

The park did have a lot of people in it, but outside of the line to get in at 7:00 P.M. or the park queues, we never really felt that it was too crowded.

If you want to get an early start to the night, there are plenty of options like staying in the hotel and hitting the Boo-Fet which will get you into the park early.

Food At The Park

Eating before the night was a bit rough for us. Without an early reservation at the Boo-Fet or Mrs. Knott’s Chicken you might find it hard to eat ahead of your horror filled evening. Especially since TGI Fridays is not open. However, if you made the mistake of not reserving your table in advance, you can always pick up Chicken to Go next to Mrs. Knott’s Chicken, and eat your food at one of the many tables around the shops.

If you still didn’t get your food before entering the park, there is plenty to eat inside, and they even have themed funnel cakes that connect to the mazes. We purchased the Cinema Slasher Funnel Cake and really had a hard time finishing it between two people!

Family-Friendly?

There is so much to do here at Knott’s Scary Farm, and while it’s definitely not appropriate for the very tiny ones, young and older teens will love the experience. There is so much to engage with them, and if the experience gets to be too much, there are plenty of fun rides for them to enjoy outside of the scare zones!

As with normal park policies, there’s a chaperone rule in effect at the park. While it is not as severe as it was last year, you cannot just drop off your children at Knotts Scary Farm. They do require an adult chaperone to follow them around the park and be responsible for them during the event. Knotts Scary Farm is not a babysitter, but it is a very, very fun event for you and your family.

If you want to pick up your own tickets for this experience, you can do so Here, and can even pick up some add-ons for your adventure, like front-of-the-line access and so much more.
