Los Angeles Comic Con To Bring Actors To Event!

You may have seen the news that Early Bird tickets have been announced for Los Angeles Comic Con, and its true, but now they’ve released a reaon to get those tickets!

Actors will be at Los Angeles Comic Con 2023!

San Diego Comic-Con was definitely filled with uncertainty, cancelation of panels, and withdrawal of signings.

It was clear SAG-AFTRA and WGA wanted a strong unified front of non-attendance from its members for promotion of active products. This really hurt fans who wanted to connect with their idols, and celebrities that use signings to supplement their income.

There were a lot of things that should have been allowed, but the proximity to the start of the strike made getting exemptions and authorizations difficult.

The major benefit for Los Angeles Comic Con is time. The extra time has allowed them to work within all SAG-AFTRA and WGA guidelines for fan events to ensure that all talent appearances, panels, and signings are within union guidelines.

“In this time of strike in Hollywood, we want to emphasize that we support unions and union members, and their right to strike for better working conditions. We are working with the talent and their representatives to make sure that all of our booking, panels and promotion this year fully conform with SAG-AFTRA guidelines for conventions.”
-Chris DeMoulin, CEO/GM of Los Angeles Comic Con parent company CEI

First guests announced for the event, include voice actor Tom Kenny, Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost, Elijah Wood, and Sean Astin.

Sean Astin, who is involved with SAG-AFTRA, offered the following statement:

“Hello Fans and Friends,
I’m excited to be returning to the iconic L.A. Comic Con. As I write this note, members of SAG-AFTRA, the labor union that represents your favorite performers, is on strike. As a member of the Negotiating Committee and on behalf of our 160,000 members, we want to thank each and everyone of you who have supported us in our effort.
We work under many contracts, and must determine if a company we wish to work for is a “struck” company. As of now, the union has worked hard to carve our rules for participating in regional fan conventions.
At this time, L.A. Comic Con, a permissible “non-struck company” has pledged its support for the union and its commitment to abiding by the guidelines.
I am therefore relieved and excited to return!
Thank you all,
Sean Astin”
