Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of January 12, 2024

The Beekeeper – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When one man, played by Jason Statham, begins wreaking havok on the world, it’s only made worse by the reveal that he is a former member of the Beekeepers, a group of clandestine agents. Now the hive will have to close ranks and take care of this problem themselves.

Sometimes you need brutal action. Jason Statham does it like no one else can. It’s action. What more do you need to see it?

The Book of Clarence – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 94%

A Biblical retelling with a new twist and take, as the characters are swapped and adjusted. Clarence, played by LaKeith Stanfield, is struggling to make a life for himself and his family. However, when he sees a rising Messiah, he risks everything to be able to walk a divine life to find redemption, faith, power, and knowledge.

I’m very interested to see this take on a biblical story. It’s hard to tell if the world will be as accepting or if they will close ranks and not even give this story a chance.

Destroy All Neighbors – Releasing on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When William, played by Jonah Ray Rodrigues, has enough with his neighbor, played by Alex Winter, he accidently murders him. Now as he covers it up, the death toll continues to rise as William’s accidental murders begin to pile up. Can he find his way back to focusing on his music career, or will he be constantly stuck in a bloody detour?

This is giving total Zombies Ate My Neighbors vibes, with Day of the Tenticle thrown in for good measure. And If I know what both those things are, I probably shouldn’t be saying “giving” at all. That being said this looks like campy fun.

Driving Madeleine – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 100%

Madeleine, played by Line Renaud, decides it’s time to head to her final retirement home, but on a last outing she calls a taxi driven by Charles, played by Dany Boon. He agrees to take her on a drive through memory lane, as the two connect over the places, journeys, and stories that she has had over her 92 years of life.

A trip through Paris, and time, as Renaud and Boon create a beautiful journey that will pull on your heart strings.

Mean Girls – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Cady Heron, played by Angourie Rice, as a new girl is welcomed to her new school by Regina George, played by Reneé Rapp, and her friends, played by Bebe Wood and Avantika. Things go pretty well until Cady makse a social faux pas and puts her in Regina’s ire. Can Cady take on the popular kids, or will she be an outcast for the remainder of high school.

It’s interesting that Tina Fey is going back to the Mean Girls well once again. She did the stage performance, but it’s probably about time to see if the dynamic can survive an entire new generation. If anyone could pull it off though, Tina Fey is the one.
