Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of January 26, 2024

Junction – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

As the opioid crisis takes it’s toll on the world, this film showcases the effects of the drug on a doctor, played by Bryan Greenberg, a pharmaceutical CEO making money off of the crisis, and the addict at the bottom of the experience, having their life destroyed.

If you’ve been negatively impacted by the opioid crisis, or want to see a deeper look throughout it’s effects, this might be a movie for you this week.

Miller’s Girl – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

A writing assignment from a teacher, played by Martin Freeman, and his talented student, played by Jenna Ortega, entangles their lives outside of the simple protege setting, and places them on a crash course that could force them to confront their darkest desires and purposes.

More of a drama then a thriller, if you love these two actors, then I can only imagine you will like their performances. It’s a slimy subject matter, but I’m interested to see where these two talented actors take it.

The Seeding – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 91%

Wyndham, played by Scott Haze, gets lost hiking. When he finds salvation in a woman living alone, played by Kate Lyn Sheil, he thinks he is safe. However, the longer he is there, the more he realizes that she is not there willingly.

If you are looking for something more suspenseful and thrilling, then this is a great option for you this week.

Totem – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 97%

Sol, played by Naíma Sentíes, is swept up into the preparations for the birthday of her father. As he gets older though, it’s becoming clearer what this year marks as the bustling Mexican household pulls together to create this emotional and poignant film.

This has a lot of heart, and has gotten great reviews. If you are willing to look a little outside of the American film realm, then you will not be disappointed with this option.

The UnderDoggs – Releasing on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When washed up football star Jaycen, played by Snoop Dogg, is sentanced to community service teaching pee-wee football in his hometown of Long Beach, he uses it to reshape his image, transforming the foul-mouthed Underdoggs into champions. Along the way, he just so happens to transform himself and rekindle his love of the game.

This looks to have a lot more heart then just a ranchy experience like Soul Plane or a twist on Bad News Bears and Mighty Ducks. I’m interested to see if Snoop can carry the more important scenes, but am willing to give him a chance.
