Movies For The Week Of April 26, 2024

Boy Kills World – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 75%

When a boy, played by Bill Skarsgård, watches his whole family be murdered, he vows revenge on the dynasty, lead by Hilda Van Der Koy, played by Famke Janssen. His condition of being deaf and voiceless however, forces him to co-opted a voice from a video game as his internal monologue. With the help of his sister’s ghost, and a rebelious resistance group, he might just be able to pull off his quest for vengence.

We love the voice of H. Jon Benjamin and it brings another level to the comedy and action. It makes it feel more like a comic book with his voice awkwardly giving us insight into the thoughts of Bill Skarsgård. The movie does look like a lot of fun and some top notch over the top action for anyone looking for that kind of film.

Breathe – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

In a future world, where oxygen is not guarenteed due to the uninhabitable hellscape that Earth has become a mother and daughter, played by Jennifer Hudson and Quvenzhane Wallis, struggle to survive. While they are able to make trips to the surface due to the suit her husband made for them, they still must live underground. When a couple appears at their shelter, offering information as to the status of her husband, the family is turned upside down at the hands of people with inappropriate intentions.

If you like distopian sci-fi thrillers, then this film fits those topics, while also being a small picture story about the survival of a family. It’s an interesting journey, and strong story.

Cash Out – Releasing in Limited Theaters and Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

When Mason, played by John Travolta, gives up his career as a thief, it’s his brother’s temptation to a massive score that puts him in the crosshairs of SWAT, FBI, and Interpol as they lay in wait within the bank, trapped with no escape, and the only chance at salvation is a negotiator, who just happens to be Mason’s ex.

If you like action thrillers, then this movie is trying to feel like that coffee scene in Swordfish, but at the end of the day, it wont be exactly the same. It still could be a fun run.

Challengers – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Tashi Duncan, played by Zendaya, is a former tennis prodigy. However, when her Husband, played by Mike Faist, starts failing, she takes up the oars as his coach and trainer. Along her husband’s redemption tour, he goes up against his former best friend, and her ex-lover. Does Tashi have what it takes to push her husband through this battle, and will they survive the challenge.

If you love sports underdog stories, and don’t mind family drama, then this new Zendaya film hits the mark, if you could believe Zendaya as a retired tennis pro, since she is so young. That being said it looks interesting.

Cinderella’s Revenge – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Cinderella, played by Lauren Staerck, has had enough horrible care and treatment from her stepmother and wicked stepsisters. When her Fairy Godmother, played by Natasha Henstridge, arrives to help her, she chooses bloody revenge over a night out with glass slippers.

Do you like dark takes on family-friendly stories, well lets be honest Grimm’s original tales were not that much of a family-friendly tale. This could be a little fun, but leave the kids behind.
