Movies For The Week Of May 1, 2026

Animal Farm
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 31%

When the animals at a farm realize that they are going to be slaughtered they take over the farm, and run it themselves. However, when a corporation finds out about them, their attempts to acquire the farm puts members of the flock at odds with others within the structure.

I have to be honest, I feel like this film might have missed the point of the original works, even though they think they are still being true to the story. That being said, Andy Serkis is the director, and he has earned a little leeway, so I might be tempted to sit through this film.

A flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai goes down in the middle of the Pacific. After surviving the crash, the survivors led by the pilot, played by Aaron Eckhart, discover that the crash wasn’t the worst of it, as they now must survive shark infested waters.

If you like action suspense films, and are looking for something to get your blood pumping, then this film might just be the next Jaws for you.

Departures
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 100%

When two people, played by David Tag and Llyod Eyre-Morgan, meet at an airport gate, they connect, and through a series of trips through Amsterdam they discover and build a relationship.

If you like dramas, and don’t have a problem with complex power dynamics in relationships, then this highly rated film might be a perfect watch for you this week.

The Story of Everything
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

An exploration into the cosmos, and the laws that govern the starts and how it connects to every aspect of life, and shows a signature into everything, everywhere.

While this film does try to point to an intentional design, it forgets the fact that all living beings, and objects must follow the most simple to understand rule, that simplest path is the one that is regularly taken in life. That being said, if you want to ask the question, then this will be a film that will attempt to do that very thing.
