During the Midsummer Scream convention, we took in the Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group’s panel. While a lot of companies and events had panels, taking in this panel was the equivalent of taking all of the other panels at once! Thirteenth Floor just has so many events, activations, immersive experiences, and plans for Halloween, not just in Los Angeles, but throughout the USA!
Thirteenth Floor Entertainment Group had a lot to share during their panel. First they started off being proud of what they’ve brought in all their years of events, including: LA Haunted Hayride, Dark Harbor, Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns, Delusion, and more recently Festival Fright Nights at the actually haunted Winchester Manor in San Jose.
Additionally they teased us that they have more experiences coming, that are not Halloween centric, with news dropping in winter, but also that you don’t have to wait for Halloween at the Queen Mary as they have not only experiences throughout the year planned but also have an escape room available on the ship right now!
But enough about what they can’t talk about yet, let’s talk about what they can talk about and what’s coming to their events this Halloween!

Winchester Mystery House – Festival Fright Nights
We checked out the Festival Fright Nights last year, and while we loved going through the house, this year they fixed our biggest frustration, the structures acts that cut you off from going backwards and hanging out in sections of the house. This year the property is more an open festival format, allowing guests to explore the attractions in any order they wish to create their own unique journey. Like last year though, the stories do interconnect, so if you pay attention more of the story will be revealed.
As for the story, this year’s story is set in 1926, just 4 years after Sarah’s death and something has awakened at the estate and the mansion and grounds are pulsing with a new mysterious energy!

Sarah’s loyal Butler has remained behind at the estate trying to fight off the evil spreading through the buildings halls. However, his son Henry Harkek, has vanished on the property spirited away by some tough play folks who want to play hide and seek with you… In the attic.
The gardens of the mansion have been taken over by Nina Nightshade and her mysterious plants of the greenhouse. Further in the grounds The Collector is dragging a forboding large sack. What could be inside…
Hide and Seek will be just one of the add-on experiences you can purchase at the event, but they will also have food and drinks in the space, while also hosting a secret speakeasy on the grounds, hidden behind Houdini’s Caravan.

South Coast Botanical Gardens – Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns
Returning once again to the South Coast Botanical Gardens, this incredibly family friendly event returns to the picturesque space.
I’m going to be honest, though, it’s a lot of walking. It just keeps going. The path starts off underneath the weeping willows, and this year you’ll see vintage pumpkins and music brought LVCRFT and dedicated kids area which houses inflatable fun including a 50 foot bounce pad shaped like a jack o’ lantern.
We saw this mentioned in the Hall Of Shadows, but not during the panel, they might start having carnival rides this year at Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns!

This is a great event for date night, or spend some time with your family.

Beckett Mansion – Delusion: Den of the Mosquito
Set in New Orleans, this story sets the attendees into a vampire brothel called the Den of the Mosquito. The creators feels like this game is helped in its theme by his time playing Nocturne, and heavily influences the themes of the 1920s and corruption, the Mafia… And of course Vampires.
In the story, you play agents of the president’s newly formed agency, Anomaly. You were sent to this business to investigate all the corpses in the town, and missing people including the towns mayor.
This experience is definitely and clearly 18 years old and older, not just due to the horror interactive experience, but also because of the context of the story.
Additionally the event is returning to the original technical format, processing 10 people every 10 minutes. This now allows guests to connect more with the characters and give attendees more of a chance to digest the story.
They are also bringing back their VIP experience, called Leach, where guests can take on a character called the Watcher who can terrorize the other attendees. While all the nights will be limited, this ticket will be even more limited.

Griffith Park – Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
The biggest news for the event of course the inclusion of alcohol finally for this event. In the past this has been prohibited due to the park status.
Additionally we discovered that Herschel is not an only child. New to Midnight Falls, comes Alistair, Herschel ‘s evil twin brother. Previously, due to his arson and antics he was banned from the town on November 1, 1981. He’s now found his way back, and the residents are a little on edge.
While last year the opening ceremony was full of chainsaws as the denizens of HellBilly menaced the town square, this year the opening ceremony is going to be a teaser for the brand new haunted house for the season.
The séance is back, but this year Madame Aurora will look into the real reasons for the curse that has befalled Midnight Falls trapping it into the 1980s perpetually. As a hint, it might have something to do with Monte Revolta.

Speaking of which returning to the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is Monte Revolta’s nightly performances, the return of Elvira, and HellBilly Haunted Houses.

Their new haunted house is called Fallen Angel, a themed experience built off of a moment trapped in the 80s featuring a fictionalized band who died during a show, and as the result of the recording from the fire playing, has summoned their souls back to Midnight Falls to terrorize and haunt the visitors to the abandoned night club.
As for the Hayride this year, it will be the most ambitious year as visitors are bound to find their way into the grapes of the witch of midnight falls. The radio station will broadcast to the visitors a warning of what they are in for. They are even bringing back the sway poles for the first time in 10 years.
