Nerd Out: January 2022

It’s a new year, and a new variant. I know a lot of people are hesitant to go out and about right now, so we’ve taken that into consideration with our article. Some people though need to get out, and it’s important to be safe with that in mind.

Before we go into the details of the events, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on ”If You Should Go Out” Here. In keeping with our promise within that article though, each event we are talking about will have an Is It Safe section discussing steps taken by the organization to keep the attendees safe. Please consider that though before making your ticket purchases.

  • The Alice: An Immersive Cocktail Experience In Los Angeles until January 30, 2022.

    Are you a fan of the world of Alice in Wonderland? Well, Hidden events give you the chance to peer through the looking glass with this immersive experience. Make some teapot cocktails, eat some “Eat Me” cake, and enjoy the experience and entertainment.

    We’ve covered their types of experiences before, as they have also run the Wizard’s Den experience before.

    Is It Safe?
    It’s indoors, so you need to wear a mask when not eating or drinking. Recommend being vaccinated before attending the event, and additionally making sure that you attend and sit at a table with only your close family.

    Glow Availale at South Coast Botanic Gardens until January 17, 2022.

    Are you a fan of Botanical Gardens? Looking for a fun experience for the month? Well

    the South Coast Botanic Garden is launching GLOW (Garden Lights & Ocean Waters) Explore the garden with lights used to transform the space into a visually beautiful and themed experience.

    Additionally, attendees can enjoy food, drinks, and music to transport you through the spaces, from beaches to bayous.

    Is It Safe?
    The event is outdoors, but not everyone is being safe. To limit your risk, we highly recommend keeping your distance, wearing a mask, and being vaccinated before attending.

    Tickets cost $34.95 for anyone over five years old, but $24.95 for members of the garden, and can be purchased Here.

    Stranger Things Store Available at the Glendale Americana until January 30, 2022.

    This store has Scoops Ahoy-themed clothes, items, throws, sweatshirts, make-up, and period-appropriate candy! On top of the products though, the space is full of interactive rooms that make amazing photo-ops. Included is Joyce’s House with interactive light display, Hawkins Middle’s Snowball Dance with peeks into the gang’s lockers, Palace Arcade with free play period appropriate games, Starcourt Mall where you pay for all your goods, and the Russian Lab where you can activate a portal to the Upside Down!

    Is It Safe?
    It’s a public event, but everyone is required to wear masks. They’ve metered entrance and used reservations to slow the amount of people in the place at one time, but there is always a risk. We highly recommend that you only attend if you have been vaccinated. If you still want to pick up some awesome stuff though even if it’s to big a risk, you can still find some of the products Here at their online store.

    Jurassic Quest Available in Ventura County on January 15th through January 17th 2022.

    Jurassic Quest is moving from Drive-Thru back to their personal sized experience again. From life-sized dinosaurs, to bounce houses there will be plenty of fun and educational experiences for children of all ages! Explore over 100 dinosaurs as well as interactive baby dinosaurs! Want a little more fun? There are rides for the kids!

    Is It Safe?
    The event is in person, but the event space is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 result. Additionally, masks must be worn at all times, but we still highly recommend you get vaccinated before attending.
