Rochelle Visits Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s Halloween Spooktacular

Come celebrate Bob Baker’s 60th year entertaining generations with their Marionettes!

Dress in your Halloween best and come celebrate the scare season at their Halloween Spooktacular, which is sure to get the whole family in the spooky spirit! Watch a variety of Halloween characters like witches, ghosts, aliens, skeletons, black cats, grumpy pumpkins, and Frankenstein entertain us while they dance to classic Halloween music many of us know and love. From the flowy elaborate costumes and backdrops to the lighting and acting everything was definitely spooktacular.

As one would expect the songs are old-timey which lends itself to the charm of the show. I did recognize “Hernando’s Hideaway” and “Purple People Eater” though. I especially loved the surprise of the aliens and the space backdrop, and to have the marionettes perform in black light made their glow and costume flow that much more magical. How the puppeteers handle the nuances in the characters is truly incredible, and they come to life instantly.

This intimate venue, and the fact that they have seating on the floor where the marionettes can better interact with you (i.e. touch you or air on your lap) makes for a more pleasant time as every seat in the house is a good seat in the house. A live organist performs before and after each production which is pretty fun! What’s more, if you plan on booking your birthday party here, they will make it extra special for you. And don’t forget about surprise ice cream after the show and a chance to meet some of the performers/marionettes. My son got to meet one too! Overall, it was a lovely time, and the kids were smiling and applauding and really enjoying themselves!

The show runs approximately 45 minutes. Catch it now through November 5th, with a sensory-friendly experience on September 24th. Masks are no longer required but recommended for ages 2 and up. For more info and to buy tickets, visit Herr!
