Rochelle Stopped By Bob Baker’s Marionette Theater For Nutcracker!

It’s the holiday season so it’s time to watch the Nutcracker!

But instead of the ballet, we’re taking the kids to see the beloved classic in playful Marionette form at the Bob Baker Marionette Theatre.

Since 1969, Bob Baker’s adaptation has delighted audiences. While the venue may have changed over the years the show remains the same. Join Clara as she meets the Nutcracker and journeys through the fantastic world of music, lights, and whimsical characters. Meet the Sugarplum Fairy and her array of fanciful cakes. Dance with the colorful flowers. March along with the toys in Toyland. Let the door of mystery enchant you as you enter Clara’s dream world. Witness the infamous battle between the Nutcracker and the Rat King.

There is a certain charm to these classic tunes and movements that carries a nostalgia that time can never change. And adding lyrics to Tchaikovsky’s work makes the entire show that much more enjoyable especially for younger kids.

This hour-long experience is the perfect family show this season. If you opt for a seat on the floor the marionettes may say hello by sitting on your lap. Guests can also interact with a couple more puppets after the show too. And keep the ice cream at the end a surprise for the kids. These little cups of ice cream (in vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate flavors) with the wooden spoon transported me back to my childhood… and that’s what this whole experience is about! Feeling like a child. Smiling. Laughing. Having a good time.

Thank you, Bob, for making me feel that again. That’s what the magic of Christmas is all about, right?

The show is running now through January 8th, with a sensory-friendly experience on December 18th. Masks are still required for ages 2 and up.
