Our Review Of Hotel Who: A Love Story

We checked out Hotel Who’s first night of their new story A love Story. This immersive performance experience is a truly unique addition to the Los Angeles scene.

Taking the murder mystery and turning it on its head, Hotel Who twists it into a magic mystery whodunit! Regardless of murder or a spell, the event keeps its guests on its toes.

The experience takes place at the Biltmore Millennium Hotel, a gorgeous and historic hotel built in 1923, during the prohibition era, in downtown Los Angeles. This hotel has quite a bit of history and several of the halls are filled with photographs, exhibits, and stories showcasing that very thing.

The Hotel Who’s newest story is broken down into four experiences. Each ticket brings you guaranteed access to the second and third part of the experience. Part two of the evening is an interactive theater piece which sets up the story for the attendees. When the story is fully set up for the guests, and they’ve had the chance to interact with the players, the third experience will unveil in the form of a party where the attendees can try to solve the mystery spell that’s befell the engagement party.

While the second part of the experience unfolds the story for the attendees, if they want an extra chance to engage with and interact with the actors and the performances, the upgraded ticket grants access to the cocktail hour that takes place before the experience.

There are quite a few delectable treats on offer up during the cocktail party before the event, including a charcuterie board and flatbread pizza. All of which takes place at the Biltmore’s Gallery Bar to the right upon the entrance of the lobby. Admission to the cocktail hour grants each attendee two drink vouchers which can be spent on champagne, wine, or even some amazing cocktails. The Gallery Bar has some unique options, we loved their Cucumber Mango Cosmo. It’s incredibly refreshing and a must have.

If you don’t spend your drink tickets from the cocktail hour, don’t worry, there are multiple bars at the other experience locations that will trade a drink for a ticket. If you run out of tickets, you can even purchase more beverages.

The fourth part of the experience is broken down into two specific benefits. The first of which being an overnight stay at the hotel with additional clues and mysteries in your room to solve before heading to bed. The second benefit is a brunch the following morning to go over and share results of the mysteries.

We unfortunately were not able to attend overnight, so I cannot talk in greater detail about the level of mysteries or the quality of the brunch.

Due to the location of the Biltmore and the beauty of the building, there are actually two reasons I recommend choosing the more expensive VIP tickets. A room in the building will allow you to be able to fully enjoy the party which goes on past 11:00 p.m.. There is quite a benefit to being able to simply walk a couple feet back to your room. The other is that you can fully imbibe at the event and get into the spirit without worry about having to drive home.

If you want to partake in an experience, tickets are available Here for Fridays through Sunday. Be aware however that there is no overnight stay or brunch for the Sunday performance.

Parking at or around the Biltmore is a little bit difficult. I highly recommend that if you are interested in attending. That you Uber to the experience, as several parking lots around the event were closed or pricey, maxing out around $45 to $50.
