Rochelle Brings Her Family To Ventura’s Snow N Glow

When we think of Christmas we think of lights and snow, right? But snow in Ventura? Who would have ever thought it possible? The creators behind Snow n Glow made it happen and more with this holiday event happening now at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

Before we go into more details of the event, we want to remind people that we are still within the thralls of a pandemic, and recommend people check out our article on “If You Should Go Out” Here. At this event, the whole space is outdoors, so that’s pretty safe as long as you keep your distance and make sure to wash your hands or regularly use hand sanitizer. Vaccination and masks are additional steps you can take to help reduce your potential of exposure. Now back to the fun!

The venue is broken up into “Glow” on one side, and “Snow” on the other. The Glow side holds an impressive array of sparkling lights ranging from the usual Christmas suspects like elves, nutcrackers, reindeer, and Santa to more unusual displays like a unicorn, sea life, a lighthouse, boat, and a rainbow tunnel. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the lights through your magic 3d glasses, which make the lights twinkle in a rainbow of colors. Christmas music fills your ears as you walk the trail of lights. There is an area where you can also write a letter to Santa and deliver it straight to him. Plenty of photo ops here so be prepared and free up space on your cameras!

Follow the sounds of the DJ bumping music on the loudspeakers, and you’ve come to the Snow side, which includes four big slides side by side where people can essentially snow tube race. In another corner there is a small snow area where you can make snowballs or build a snowman. While this isn’t a lot for the older children, this will surely entertain your young ones. Free tickets for children doesn’t include the sledding, for obvious reasons, but does include the snow park!

But other amenities abound like vendors selling hot drinks, cold beers, and s’mores kits; portable potties; a little play area where the kids can build to their content with yard-sized interlocking bricks; picnic benches and fire pits. If you wanted to rent an igloo, this is the side that has it, complete with a personal fire pit and all to roast your s’mores. If you didn’t opt for an igloo (most likely because they are sold out!) then you could go to an open fire pit and roast your s’mores there. While the kit is a nice concept these aren’t traditional smores though. They replaced the simple graham cracker with a chocolate chip cookies, and swapped out the bland chocolate with a tastier Nutella. While I normally prefer the traditional style, this was an interesting idea! The smore kit even comes with a child’s light up wand! My daughter absolutely loved it!

You can save a bit on admission by only opting for the Glow side of the event, but with the price at $38 a ticket for the full experience, it’s worth it for the snow tubing! Children under 2 are free, but parking is around $22. You cut down costs to purchase more add ons at the experience by either carpooling with friends, or Ubering to the location! It’s there for you to enjoy through December 26th.

  1. I called the company running Snow and Glow to explain I had to cancel my 4 tickets because
my son came down with Dengue Fever in Singapore and was unable travel at this time.

I was assured my refund would be sent to my credit card within 3-7 days. My money has never been refunded.
