James Wesley Marsters is an american actor (Surprised Buffy fans?) who was born on August 20, 1962 in Greenville, California. While a lot of people know him due to his work as an actor on Buffy the Vampire slayer, he is also a skilled singer, and voice actor!
James Marsters apparently always loved acting from being in plays in musicals in High School, while also studying at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts at Allan Hancock College. While he did go to New York to attend Juilliard, he was expelled after two years.
After school he moved to Chicago to focus on more stage performances, and formed the New Mercury Theatre in Seattle in 1990. However, he breached into the world of Television with bit roles in series like Northern Exposure and Andromeda. Later he would gain the role of Spike in the second season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and become a series favorite for his role as the villain of the season. Fun note, Anthony Stewart Head helped him master his London Accent on the show, probably why everyone thought he was actually English!
Since the series, he has gone on to star in the spin-off show, Angel, played Brainiac in the DC series Smallville, and had roles in Torchwood and Caprica, not to mention countless roles in voice acting as himself and under a couple other names.
With this being our Comics Round Up, we are going to take this moment to talk about our favorite Spike appearances in the comic books!

Spike: Shadow Puppets #1 (2007) The Smile Time episode of Angel was one of the best episodes of the later series of the Angel show, in a period where it felt like the show lost the plot, this episode was fun and amazing and brought a lot of love to the show. One issue though, Spike wasn’t a puppet in that episode, Shadow Puppets brings back Smile Time, and corrects that one issue. |
