Today we are talking about the new Marvel Rivals 8.5 update that took place on June 12. We have also made a video with some gameplay so make sure you check that out!
Marvel Games and NetEase finally released the 8.5 update, and we finally get the long-awaited Cyclops as a character and some new maps and game modes along with it. First off Cyclops is a super fun character to play with. I had a special opportunity to be able to try him in early access and had a blast. He is a very easy character to learn so whether you are new to Marvel Rivals or returning to it after a while for the update, you will be able to play with him right away and learn him within one match. All his moves involve shooting his beam and has moves that are versatile from full on attack to some defensive and evasive moves so that you can get away for some heals. Watch the video for some game play and see how Cyclops defeats his enemies!
Rivals is doing a re-run on some summer cosmetics as well as some other fan favorites coming back. There are four limited time rerun events that will run until June 26 (or June 25 depending on your time zone) and feature reruns of summer outfits and fan favorites from Summer party and Abyssal Flame. Go check it out and grab what you need before the events end.
On to the game modes and maps:
We got a new version game mode of Annihilation or 18v18 mode, which is called Bounty Annihilation. This game mode gives a dedicated K’un-Lun: Shenloong Arena map to handle 36 ultimate’s going off at once. You can select multiple respawn points in this instead of just spawning away from enemies. You can also capture zones in this mode along with kills to score points. Log in today to play this mode and dive into a fun chaotic frenzy of heroes and villains.
Finally we have some tournament announcements:
The update also brought a new tournament event; Shenloong Tournament. What’s awesome about this event is that it is ABSOLUTELY FREE! All you need to do is play and gain experience on a daily basis and you can unlock up to 12 levels and 12 rewards. The final is a Groot costume that I’m really looking forward to so go check it out. Act fast because there is a daily EXP cap for unlocking the next level and is a limited time event until the end of the season on July 10th. The other tournament news is that Marvel Rivals is allowing third-party tournaments now!
