While the Festival of Arts is governed by a nine-member volunteer Board of Directors, a new vacancy on the board of directors has occured, and a new person is needed to fill the remaining term left open until September 2027.
As Ed Hanke transitions to the role of Operations Director, the board has appointed Kunoor Chopra, an attorney/entrepreneur and supporter of the arts to fill his vacancy on the board.
Chopra has had over 20 years of business leadership experience and even has a personal connection to Laguna Beach. Chopra hopes to build on the Festivals connections and traditions as she has a combination of professional expertise and fresh perspectives that could benefit the organization.
While Chopra has been a Laguna Beach resident for only five years, she and her wife, Deanna, have a longstanding connection to the city, since Deanna’s family has been visiting Laguna Beach for more than 70 years. Additionally, Chopra and Deanna purchased art early in their relationship in Laguna Beach, and that shared love of collecting art permeates through their relationship. Additionally the couple has attended the Pageant of the Masters every summer for the past decade!
Some of Chopra’s goals moving forward is expanding community partnerships, creating opportunities for year-round engagement. and introducing the Festival and Pageant to younger and more diverse audiences.
