Happy Birthday To Comic Creater and Artist Jake Wyatt!

Jake Wyatt, born on February 4, 1985, is an American comic book artist who has worked for high-profile brands like Image, DC, and Marvel Comics. He began pursing comic book illustration work at the age of 24.

In August of 2013, at 28, he self-published his debut personal comic Necropolis. The webcomic series has since been incredibly acclaimed by reviewers and audiences.

On top of making comic book art as an illustrator, he has also worked on animated series turns to comic books like Regular Show, Adventure Time, and even worked with Steven Universe. Eventually, he even joined the animated series of My Adventures With Superman as the showrunner. A series that is amazing, and utlizes Jack Quaid as the voice of Superman.

With that in mind, we wanted to share some of his work in the industry that is worth checking out!

Edge of Spider-Verse #5 (2014)
 
This is the first appearance of Peni Parker. Peni is a Japanese American high school student who, on top of being incredibly intelligent and capable of mechanical repair and building, but also possessing a psychic link with a radioactive spider named SP//dr with whom she jointly pilots a mech suit of the same name. Peni Parker was created by Gerard Way, but was also artistically created by Jake Wyatt. Originally, Peni and SP//dr’s comics were largely inspired by mecha anime, with Neon Genesis Evangelion singled out as an influence.
Ms. Marvel #6 (2014)
 
This continues the loveable story of Ms. Marvel/Kamala Khan, as she needs to take down the Inventor, and to get help she turns to the GOAT of Marvel Comics, Wolverine. In this incredibly fun run, and great combination. It’s only a two part series, but still viewed as a great team-up by comic book fans. Written by G. Willow Wilson with art from Jake Wyatt.
Necropolis Comic (2015)
 
Necropolis tells the story of a girl who survived her village being razed by bandits. In an attempt to get revenge, she makes a Deal with the Devil to gain a weapon to help her get revenge on not just the bandits who destroyed her home, but all gangs of bandits. Her newfound power and agenda, however, put her in the crosshairs of powerful people who wish to utilize her for her strength.

If you are looking for more works from Jake Wyatt, he released the 2022 “The Well” a graphic novel for teens set in the fantasy genre, with illustrations by Choo.
