Conner’s Critique: Rick And Morty – Season 6

Rick and Morty continues to rock out episodes for it’s ever increasing run of seasons. As always we got the chance to check out the episodes a bit early, so we can share our thoughts.

As always we break down our reviews into three categories, Story, Acting, and Overall. So let’s jump in!

Story 9/10

This story delves so much deeper into the lore of the world of Rick and Morty. A topic that a lot of people didn’t expect since the creative team behind the series had pushed away from in the past.

Specifically, since last season the series ended on the fact that portal tech no longer exists in the world of Rick and Morty. As a solution to this fact, Rick attempts to fix it but accidently sends himself back to his original world, which confirms so much off the bat. There are so many other spoilers I could reveal, but the truth of the matter is that it’s just the beginning for the series as it delves so much deeper as it continues.

“If lore was something you thought Rick and Morty was missing, then this season will solve that issue for you.”

At the end of the day, the stories they create, and the journey they take in discovering it, and resolving it, to some degree, is peak Rick and Morty while also turning the experience on it’s own head. If lore was something you thought Rick and Morty was missing, then this season will solve that issue for you.

Acting 6/10

There is some ups and downs this season. The main characters do a great job, but the supporting characters are a bit flat and while they might have been created to be a point based on that same result, at the end of the day it falls flat.

A series like this, the more off the wall the characters are sometimes the better the show, but if the energy is not met with good acting and writing, then it feels more grating then benefitial.

Overall 7.5/10

At the end of the day the series was more interesting due to Rick’s journey and back story, but it ends feeling a bit lack luster and like something is missing. I hope that is resolved in the next season, but only time will tell.

Conner’s Final Thoughts

I’m interested to see where the series goes in the future. It’s gotta be hard though to keep interest in the series. The villain of this season while interesting, hasn’t really been built up well through the series like characters such as Evil Morty. I hope in future series we get that.
