Movies and Videos On Demand For The Week Of January 27, 2023

Blood – Releasing in Theaters and Streaming 4 days later.

When Jess, played by Michelle Monaghan, separates from her husband, played by Skeet Ulrich, she takes her two children and moves back to her family farm. However, when her young son’s dog returns home one day with a rabid disease and bites her son, played by Finlay Wojtak-Hissong. However, when all is lost, she discovers a cure that pushes the boundaries of what she would do to keep her family safe.

This thriller and horror film pushes into family bonds and a parent’s depth of care, and how far they will go. If you have an issue with children in danger, then skip this one, but if you can handle it, then this one will be a very interesting ride.

Disquiet – Releasing in Theaters

When Sam, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, gets into a near-fatal car accident, he is knocked out, and finds himself in a hospital. However, as he attempts to leave he discovers it’s abandoned, and something won’t let him leave.

This is another thriller, with a dark forboding and demonic aspect to it as something prevents him from leaving.

Fear – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

After a year of the pandemic, friends head out to the Tahoe Mountains to stay at the Strawberry Lodge. However, when their vacation turns to a nightmare the guests will have to learn the history of the lodge or die trying.

More horror and thriller aspects as it seems to be a new January tradition. This one looks interesting enough to draw the attention. However, if you don’t like horror films, then I’d steer clear, of all the other options, this is probably closer to the traditional horror theme.

Infinity Pool – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 78%

James, played by Alexander Skarsgård, and his girlfriend, played by Cleopatra Coleman, are enjoying a beach vacation when their desire for adventure and mystery leads them to an unsafe, and unstable place filled with violence and horror.

More and more horror. This is similar to Fear, but with a beach local, and more of a humanistic aspect to the horror.

You People – Releasing on Streaming
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 23%

When an interracial couple, played by Jonah Hill and Lauren London, explore their relationship and their parent’s take, it causes culture clash and the examination of generational differences.

The outlier of the week, as a comedy finds itself amongst a sea of horror. However, the horror is that the film isn’t as good as it should be. Wasting the talent of Eddie Murphy, David Duchovny and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. However, if you want to see a new movie this week, and don’t want to see a horror… this is your option.
