Hey, Trainers! Welcome to another Community Day Spotlight. This month the event is focusing on Pawmi!
Sunday the 11th of May is the date, 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm is the time.
Bonuses are:
Spotlight on Pawmi
So! This little electric rodent is notable for a few things. First off, its line is the first that’s Electric and Fighting Type from the second stage onwards! A heretofore unseen typing combo. It’s matched later in the Pokedex by Iron Hands, though, that one is Fighting and Electric type; the order of the types are switched but mechanically? No different! Both of these sets of monsters debuted in Generation 9.
Secondly! It’s the first Pika-clone to evolve! I mean… unless you count. Marill. And Pichu. Generation 2 was a wacky time, huh? But from Plusle and Minun all the way through to the hangry, hangry hamster that is Morpeko? You may see a form change but no evolutions. Pawmi breaks this trend beautifully!
It’s also used by the rival character Nemona in Generation 9! Way to put some shine on the line.
It’s inspired by the Marmot – an animal reintroduced into the Pyrenees mountains bordering Spain and France. They’re native to many mountain ranges throughout the rest of Europe and used to live in the Pyrenees during the ice age. Introducing them there was a bit of re-wilding that seems to be working out well! Oh, and they’re also inspired by defibrillators. Those paddles they use to restart the hearts of the recently dead. CLEAR!
The Pokedex is a bit light on info simply because this monster has only been around for one generation. Its electric sacs are a bit underdeveloped so it’s always rubbing at them cheeks to jump start some static electricity. It can also shoot electricity out of its hands, but doing so means it has to stand up on its hind paws which can be tricky.
And here it is! The first official Electric and Fighting Type Pokemon! Again, ‘dex info is a bit light. It has a particular fighting style that combines electric shocks with powerful slaps and punches.
Spotlight on Pawmot
And here’s the big boss of this set of Pika clones! Pawmot is slow to get into a fight but once it’s there? You can count on it to strike hard and fast. It stores electricity in its coat and can hold quite a bit of power in there! Useful for a creature based on defibrillators!
But can it get your heart racing in Pokemon GO?
With a Max CP of 2978, 232 Attack, Defense of 141 and a Stamina of 172, it can hit hard… but that Defense means it’s not sticking around for long unfortunately.
It’s an electric and fighting type so it’s weak to fairy, ground, and psychic type moves, and resists bug, dark, electric, rock, and steel type moves.
In terms of Fast Attacks, you have Spark, Low Kick, and Charge Beam. For Charged Attacks you get Discharge, Thunder Punch, Thunderbolt, Close Combat, and Wild Charge. The Community Day option of Brick Break is also available if you evolve your Pawmo to Pawmot before May 18, 2025. ALL of these moves are STAB, if you can believe it!
Shiny Pawmi is incredibly easy to spot as it shifts out it’s orange color scheme and takes on a pinkish red coat.
And that’s all I’ve got for you this month, Trainers! Have fun out there, be kind to one another and catch as many Pawmi as your heart desires! As always, I wish you the best of luck!
