CES 2026 – The Lego Group Press Conference News

While at CES We stopped by several press conferences but the one that made the biggest impression was of course The Lego Group’s new announcement of their Smart Brick line-up and technology.

During the event they introduced a Smart Brick, a 2×4 brick, that is jammed packed full of sensors that will allow the brick to recognize colors, distance, and directional sense of other items and Smart Bricks. This can be combined with Tags, a flat brick that includes an RFID tag that instructs the Smart Brick of the task it is meant to perform.

Once assigned you can utilize the bricks for games, tasks, and even create sound effects thanks to the Smart Bricks built in synthesizer. The Smart Brick will even utilize its lights to help indicate aspects of the game, such as who the winner of the group is, and that the item is activating.

Additionally the Smart MiniFig will also be recognized by the Smart Brick, and inclusion will even create mumbling by the synthesizer to represent the MiniFig. For instance, if the Tag is telling it the Smart Brick is built within a car, the Smart Brick will assume that driving over the Smart MiniFig is bad, and will make the Synthesizer make a noise akin to the MiniFig yelping in pain.

Further into the conference the Lego Group showcased that their first collaboration with the Smart Brick will be Star Wars, and the group will launch a Tie Fighter, Luke’s X-Wing, and Darth Vader v. Luke Skywalker Lightsaber arena in March!

We are super excited to see what the company creates with this new technology!
