The world is ruled by a sentient A.I., but not everything is as it seems when a death sets a private eye into a world hidden under the surface of the society in which rebels fight against their technological oppressor.

While this film is doing its best to be sci-fi at its core, it does lean into a very stylish design that can either test your interest or pull you deeper into the world.


The Magic Faraway Tree

Poly and Tim, played by Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield, are adapting their family to a new life in the countryside after being forced to relocate. The children however discover a magical tree that transports them to a fantastical land with eccentric denizens.Through the adventures the family finds a way to reconnect.

This film is an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s novel The Magic Faraway Tree, so if you were a fan of this work, then seeing the movie is a no brainer. However, it is well reviewed as a charming and uplifting story. We could use more of those these days.


The Marching Band

When two brothers, played by Benjamin Laverne and Pierre Lottin, discover each other, after never knowing either existed, the two connect over their love of music, now with brotherly love and help, each will find their place in each other’s life.

This film did very well at Cannes, and was loved in France, now it comes here, and if you like emotional and easy to understand fis, then this is worth taking the journey to the cinema.


Mutiny

When Cole, played by Jason Statham, witnesses his boss being murdered, he is framed for the crime. Now he’s on a crusade to avenge his boss and prove his innocence; he will stop at nothing, even when he discovers that the conspiracy is international.

Of you like action films, and more importantly Jason Statham’s recent style of films, then you’ll likely enjoy this film. It seems a bit more thriller than straight action, but still looks fun.


The Snare

Dani, played by Cassady McClincy Zhang, is a straight-A student who has worked hard to break out of her lower class life. However, it all comes crashing down when she is arrested and charged with possession of drugs. Now she has to choose between the life she fought for, and the people closest to her.

If you are looking for a drama with heavy choices and dark consequences then this film will pull on all of the threads to interest you this week.
