While a few lucky attendees have already gotten the chance to ride the newest experience at Universal Studios Hollywood, the access has been limited to Technical Trials, Passholder Previews, and incredibly limited options.
Now, though, the park has set the date for the full opening of their new ride Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift. The date will be Wednesday, September 16, 2026! This ride marks the park’s first outdoor, high-speed roller coaster! If you haven’t heard about the ride prior, this ride takes you into the feel of being within the world of Fast & Furious franchise putting you on the edge of your seat.
Before you even get in on the ride, the queue will feature two stationary photo op prop cars for guests to take photos in, and the race track will race through a transparent section of the queue, to give the people waiting a bit of the excitement of the ride before going on it. Additionally, the queue will feature recreated props from the Fast Saga films, alongside QR codes to show behind‑the‑scenes, more information about the props, and engagement with Universal Studios’ “Backlot Club.”
Within the ride, the you’ll travel from the upper lot to the lower lot, with parts of the track taking riders over the theme park’s multilevel Starway escalator, and then directly under it, as the track will travel through an inverted dive loop, a twisted pretzel loop, and even an inverted stall with the vehicles travelling at speeds of up to 72 MPH. The entire track is 4,100 feet and features 360-degree drifting effects, while putting riders in G-forces up to 3.6!
