Remastered, and returning with a good cause, Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” is returning to theaters on October 9, 2026 for a special weeklong theatrical run. “9 to 5” was a satirical workplace comedy that released in 1980 starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin. The film features a group of women who are being made miserable by their boss, as they band together to seek revenge on the man.
For each ticket that is sold to the film, Disney will donate the net proceeds received by Disney from the U.S. theatrical ticket sale for the film during the period October 9-15, 2026, less fees and expenses, to The Dollywood Foundation as it support its flagship program, the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was launched in 1995, as an early childhood book-gifting program. Since its founding the program has gifted more than 300 million free books to children across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. The foundation was inspired by Dolly Parton’s father whose inability to read and write drove Dolly to created the Imagination Library.
