Overlanding is a type of travel that is more self-reliant and adventurous. Think of backpacking, but in vehicles. A person could overland for days, weeks, or even months. The goal is not where you are going, but how you get there.
To overland, people will likely sleep in their vehicles, and live in their vehicle as they travel on multiple forms of terrain, and explore remote locations.
Overlanding could be viewed as prolonged off-roading, in a way, and as such has many dangers and risks inherent in the act.
As more people begin to partake in overlanding, the desire from some companies and brands to promote safe, and eco-friendly overlanding of course will be on the rise. Now A+E Networks and Land Rover are working together for that very purpose.
In a one time documentary, All You Need To Know: Overlanding, the duo will talk about the trend over the course of the hour long special. They will discuss the history of the activity, talk to experts in the field, and talk about planning, tools, techniques, and resources that anyone who wants to start getting trekking into the unknown should consider before they put themselves at risk.
Life is an adventure, and it’s important that if you are going to delve into it, you do so as safely as possible.
While the special does focus on Overlanding, it’s important to note that there is a commercial aspect to the event, as the special will feature and cover the capabilities of the new Land Rover Defender during the special, as the documentary’s host, Christian Murphy, embarks on a five-day off-the-grid overlanding journey with expert Scott Brady from Arizona through Utah.
Make sure to check out the special on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. ET or during it’s encore presentation on The HISTORY Channel Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. ET.
