We Checked In On Skyted’s “Masked” Device At CES 2026

While at Unveiled, on the first night of CES we ran into Stephane Hersen of Skyted, as we normally do. As a fan of their initial product, and early backer of their Kickstarter to purchase the product I’m well versed on this device, or at least what we were promised.

Years past they proposed a device, hidden in a mask, that using aerospace technology, would muffle and prevent others from hearing your sensitive phone conversations, even when in close proximity, like on a plane or train.

This was during the hype and need of masks early in COVID. When it came time to deliver the mask however, they had massively pivoted to their Skyted 320 headset.

While the Skyted 320 headset is no doubt impressive, it was mask free. Their arguments being that masks have lost their interest as COVID has been reduced and mask usage is almost completely gone. The new headset boasts a massively impressive microphone that can hear you when you whisper, and produces the sound loudly and clearly for the person on the other side of the device.

It’s still not a mask though. Their new technology this year, is they’ve improved their AI to now also tell you when you are being to loud, and people around you can hear you. But the device, unlike the Mask wont keep neighbors on planes and trains completely out of your business. They still say though that they don’t have the mask perfected, which was what they were selling from the start, but are currently looking for a partner in military to help them find a place for the masked device. However, if they find one it looks like the project might conservatively be five years out, based on our conversation with Stephane.

I will say, he promises that he will be reimbursing, in time, all backers who are dissatisfied and do not want the Skyted 320, but that is not what I wanted, what a lot of people wanted, they just wanted the initially promised and designed device.
