Anthony Dwane Mackie was born today, September 23, 1978, in New Orleans, Louisiana. While attending Warren Easton Sr High School, he also attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and the high school drama program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. He then went on to study and graduate from Juilliard’s Drama Division in 2021.
His film debut was in 8 Mile in 2002. His career continued to blossom as he received critical acclaim for Brother to Brother in 2004 and The Hurt Locker in 2008.
Most people recognize him today for his work in Twisted Metal, the adaptation of the game of the same name which began airing in 2023 and is currently ongoing, as well as his work with the MCU as Sam Wilson, which started in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2021.
He has since continued his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, the series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Brave New World, and ongoing projects within the franchise.
Anthony Mackie, much like his MCU counterpart Sam Wilson, has taken on several titles in the comics and movies, Specifically starting as The Falcon, he was then tapped by Steve Rogers to take on the title of Captain America.

Captain America #117 (1969) The Red Skull has taken the body of Captain America and has teleported Captain America to Exile Island. As the Red Skull is distracted by his use of Captain America’s body, the real Captain America in the Red Skull’s form receives aid from The Falcon. The man, Sam Wilson, tells Captain that he went from training pigeons on rooftops to training his falcon Redwing. Tricked into helping the Exiles, he decided to turn against them, and that led to him helping Captain America. |

Captain America #170 (1974) A side story in the comic, but a pivotal one for The Falcon. In this story, the Falcon is in Wakanda discussing a new item in blueprints with the Black Panther. However, when Black Panther is betrayed, and the Falcon’s girlfriend is in danger, T’challa gives Sam Wilson a new piece for his costume, wings made with Wakandan technology that allow him to fly. |

Captain America #25 (2014) After being attacked and having his Super-Soldier Serum neutralized Steve Rogers is aging, and can no longer be Captain America. So he decides to keep the icon of the role alive, and passes the torch to Sam Wilson, giving him the shield and legacy to continue on. |
