Celebrate The Anniversary Of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created by comic book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird in 1984 on this date, May 1. The team consists of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, all lead by their rat sensei named Splinter. Their journey has connected them with allies like April O’Neil and Casey Jones. Their include aliens, monsters, science accidents, Baxter Stockman, Krang, and most famously Shredder.

When the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arrived on the scene, their style was anything but family friendly. The whole series was a parody of traditional comic book characters and villians. In spite of that, they found a home and was so well loved that Eastman and Laird licensed the characters to Playmate Toys. The toys sold so well between 1988 and 1992 that they were the third-bestselling toy on the market.

We’ve even had the chance to sit down and talk to Kevin Eastman, see our interview Here!

The series of comics then spawned animated series, live action films, video games, and to this day continues to create all of the same to this day.
