Movies For The Week Of June 28, 2024

Daddio – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 83%

What started as a simple ride, a taxi driver, played by Sean Penn, and his fare, played by Dakota Johnson, striking up a converstation that leaves both of them changed by the end of the journey.

While Penn and Johnson apparently have great chemistry, and the film is compelling, if you don’t like small journey concepts then this film might feel less valuable for your time, but if you like Drama, then this will be a great ride.

Horizon – Releasing in Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – 38%

Horizon: An American Saga follows Hayes Ellison, played by Kevin Costner, through the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865. Showcasing what happened to the country and the emotional journey that families, friends and others endured during those times.

This is meant to be the first of four films. While it is supposedly very nostalgic of the world of westerns, it is said by some to fall short. However, if you love westerns, it might still be worth it for you to enjoy.

Return to the world of A Quiet Place, but from the beginning as Sam, played by Lupita Nyong’o, must endure the arrival and attacks of the monsters from the franchise, as humanity learns the new rules of their world, and just how to survive.

If you like the Quiet Place films, then this is a given, if you haven’t seen them prior, maybe this is the right time to start since the films of prior years are not needed to understand what is happening.

A Sacrifice – Releasing in Limited Theaters
Rotten Tomatoes Reviewer Score – (None Available Yet)

Ben Monroe, played by Eric Bana, moves from America to Berlin with the intent to research the cult mentality. While he finds himself learning more and more, his daughter, played by Sadie Sink gets a different lesson when she meets a mysterious and enigmatic local.

Frankly we are glad to see another film with Sadie Sink in it. She is really showcasing herself as an amazing actress and knowing that we wont get to see her in most of the last season of Stranger Things, it’s nice to see her succeeding in other films and opportunities.
