We stopped by the Los Angeles Rum Festival, which kept their much smaller and intimate pop-up location from last year. Returning to the Haas Collective, the venue had beautiful views all across downtown Los Angeles.
There were so many types of rums to drink, from all over the world and included straight, cocktails, and cordials. Last year they included the cigar area, including hand rolled and rum infused cigars. This year, unfortunately there wasn’t a cigar in sight, but we loved the Rum Shack’s make your own daiquiri with the use of Reàl Infused Exotics.
Our favorite take aways from the event however, when it came to spirits, was Planteray Rum’s Sealander was an amazing giving a myriad of flavors and hints of coconut that just properly rests on your tongue without overstaying it’s welcome. Additionally, it’s important to note that this bottle is a blend of Barbados, Mauritius, and Fiji. Another amazing option was Barbancourt’s Haitian Proof Rhum Blanc, which is a super cheap option, but also is amazingly flavorful as an agricole rum. Their flavors increase as you go up their line-up of rums, but if you want something to mix and enjoy, you can’t go wrong with their Haitian Proof Rhum Blanc.
The experience once again on top of having spirits to sample, they had vendors selling clothing, and even had Flamebachi there serving some amazing food, for a price of course.
