OpenAI Cleans House And Fires CEO

  • UPDATE: November 22, 2023
Sam Altman has been reinstated as CEO of OpenAI.
  • OpenAI is the company that created the infamous ChatGPT AI program that seemed to spark a world of fear and technological boom that caused people all over the internet to clutch their pearls, and rally to boot AI from creative and push back on the technological growth.

Sam Altman helped co-found OpenAI in 2015, and has been at the helm of the company for some time.

In a recent move the board of OpenAI has terminated and removed Sam Altman from his position of CEO and replaced him with Mira Murati a person who has been more reserved when speaking about the rapid growth of Generative AI in the marketplace.

This decision has been viewed as a bad move across the tech world though, as Microsoft has been quick to swoop in and hire Altman, as well as potentially all the employees that have threatened to quit in protest of OpenAI’s decision and in support of Altman. It’s important to not that Microsoft has in the past been very supportive of OpenAI having invested larges swathes of cash into the company.

What decision OpenAI’s board will do going forward will be interesting to see, but if they want to keep a major investor happy, or want to even have a company, the choice seems pretty simple.
