Sexy Comics for National Resurrect Romance Week

Hello there beautiful. Did I mention how stunning and brilliant you are? Oh I didn’t? Well good thing there is “National Resurrect Romance Week”! That’s right, a whole week of second chance Valentine’s Day for your loved ones to tell you how amazing you are. So be sure to tell them about this week! It is a holiday created back in 1995 by Michael Webb observed the second full week in August and takes place six months after Valentine’s Day.

It’s a day that Webb wanted to encourage people to celebrate love from the heart to remind ourselves that the best gift you can give is showing our significant other the real meaning of love. And what better way to do that then some awesome, and somewhat mature, comics! Well, that works for me at least. So today in no particular order, I will suggest my very bias top four favorite romance comics for you and your loved ones to spice things up with.

DISCLAIMER: These comics listed have very graphic depictions of sexuality.

SEX CRIMINALS

Suzie’s a normal girl with an extraordinary ability: when she has sex, she stops time. One night she meets John… who has the same gift. And so they do what any other sex-having, time-stopping, couple would do: they rob banks. In the vein of THE 40-YEAR OLD VIRGIN and BRIDESMAIDS, Image Comics invites you to come along with MATT FRACTION (Hawkeye, SATELLITE SAM) and CHIP ZDARSKY (Prison Funnies, Monster Cops) for the series that puts the “comic” back in “comics” and the “sexy” back in “sex crimes.”

SAGA

Y: THE LAST MAN writer BRIAN K. VAUGHAN returns to comics with red-hot artist FIONA STAPLES for an all-new ONGOING SERIES! Star Wars-style action collides with Game of Thrones-esque drama in this original sci-fi/fantasy epic for mature readers, as new parents Marko and Alana risk everything to raise their child amidst a never-ending galactic war.

THE CUTE GIRL NETWORK

Jane’s new in town. When she wipes out on her skateboard right in front of Jack’s food cart, she finds herself agreeing to go on a date with him. Jane’s psyched that her love life is taking a turn for the friskier, but it turns out that Jack has a spotty romantic history, to put it mildly. Cue the Cute Girl Network–a phone tree information-pooling group of local single women. Poor Jane is about to learn every detail of Jack’s past misadventures…whether she wants to or not. Will love prevail?

BINGO LOVE

When Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray met at church bingo in 1963, it was love at first sight. Forced apart by their families and society, Hazel and Mari both married young men and had families. Decades later, now in their mid-’60s, Hazel and Mari reunite again at a church bingo hall. Realizing their love for each other is still alive, what these grandmothers do next takes absolute strength and courage. From TEE FRANKLIN (NAILBITER’s “THE OUTFIT,” Love is Love) and JENN ST-ONGE (Jem & The Misfits), BINGO LOVE is a touching story of love, family, and resiliency that spans over 60 years.

There are many ways to show our significant others how much they mean to us. A small gift, alone time away from the kids, small acts of kindness and love. It doesn’t have to be a huge expensive gift. With this holiday being one week long, think about possibly doing one small romantic gesture each day.
