Sony has a couple of styles of lenses, based on the camera that you own. In the past, if you had an E-Mount camera, you couldn’t use A-Mount lenses due to the design of the body of the camera, and the mount without an adapter. Even with an adapter though, you’d still lose features without the screw-drive system.
Now everything is changing with Sony’s new LA-EA5 lens mount adapter! Recent E-Mount camera lenses are designed with control of phase-detection AF systems, and more which if you wanted to use, your only option is to use a clunky large adapter.
The LA-EA5 brings a driving screw-drive system to adjust and manage the features not previously believed possible in such a slim adapter ring body!
The previous adapter used to have an external mechanism that would drive the screw-drive motors, but it is now built into and integrated into the adapter ring!
Now you’ll be able to gain full access to your A-Mount SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) and SAM (Smooth Autofocus Motor). If your A-Mount lenses don’t have the special features of modern lenses, don’t worry, the adapter will still allow you to connect the A-Mount lenses to an E-Mount body.
With the use of this mount adapter, users will gain access and support for all these features!
