Sundance Documentary “Minding The Gap” Acquired by Hulu

Minding The Gap is a moving documentary from director Bing Liu about three young men who bond across racial lines to escape volatile families in their Rust Belt hometown of Rockford, Illinois. The documentary picks up ten years later, and deals with the same characters, now adults with responsibilities, and forces revelations about their fathers, mothers, and each other.

Minding The Gap premiered earlier this year at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and won the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Film making. Since Sundance, it has received over twenty-five awards and distinctions at other festivals, including another nine Jury Awards for Best Documentary and five Audience Awards.

This film will join Hulu’s growing list of documentaries, including the March of the Penguins 2: The Next Step.

Minding The Gap rights were acquired by Hulu, and as a result there will be a dual launch in theaters as well as on Hulu this August 17th.
